I really enjoy building technology around video and VR - for streaming, conferencing, 360° video, robotics and computer vision.
I work full-time on Open Source projects (like GStreamer) through my job at Centricular, and in my spare time I've been reverse engineering Oculus Rift VR headsets and building drivers for OpenHMD that support full positional tracking. By providing some sponsorship you will be paying to get Oculus devices working well on non-Windows platforms. Full support for Oculus Rift devices would mean the apps in SteamVR now work with your headset under Linux. You would also be able to use your Rift with OpenXR applications via the Monado compositor. With each $300 / month, I can spend a full extra day on OpenHMD and related projects like the SteamVR-OpenHMD bridge.
Currently, working only in my spare time means the Rift support moves in bursts when I can, so it's taking longer than I'd like.
